Stock Sales in 2011

For all stock sales in 2011, we will need the cost basis and date of purchase of the stock sold. Your stockbroker should have this information. Please attempt to get this information before you bring your tax information to the office.

Special Notice to our Valued Clients

Due to this busy tax season, we are asking you to bring your tax information to the office on Fridays. You may either schedule an appointment by calling 865-397-6694, or simply drop it off during business hours. You may also utilize our drop box by the front door for after-hours delivery.

Yes, it's already tax time - again!

As tax season approaches, our professional team of tax experts looks forward to helping you file your 2011 tax return. In order to accurately prepare your tax return, please complete the Income Tax Questionnaire. If you did not receive a copy of the questionnaire enclosed with the annual letter via postal mail, you can download a pdf copy on this site.

tax timeDid you have a casualty loss in 2011? (i.e. hail or storm damage) If so, please be sure to provide us with:

  • the date of the casualty,
  • the fair market value before the casualty,
  • the fair market value after the casualty,
  • the amount of insurance proceeds and
  • the amount you actually spent for repair.

Normally, the difference between the before and after fair market values is the amount of the estimate given to you by the insurance adjuster.

We can no longer fax, e-mail or deliver tax returns to third parties without a signed written consent from you. Therefore, due to the additional time needed to process these request, we now will charge a nominal fee of $10.00 for additional copies beyond the copy given to you with your tax return. Please also note that, upon request, our firm can provide you with a blank extension form with instructions in order for you to file your extension form.

Remember, we are talking about your tax dollars so be as detailed as possible when completing the questionnaire. Attach additional schedules to provide all the information needed to complete your return. If you itemize your deductions, be sure to bring your sales tax receipts on large items such as cars, boats, motorcycles, etc.

Our entire staff at Rick Bowlin CPA PC appreciates your business and look forward to preparing your tax returns.

Authorized IRS e-file Provider

authorized e-fileIn order to better meet your needs, we now offer electronic filing. As an authorized IRS e-file provider, we can help you receive faster refunds. With IRS e-file, taxpayers get refunds in half the time it takes to file a paper tax return and receive a refund check. E-filers who choose direct deposit can receive their refund in as few as 10 days.

Beginning this year, the Internal Revenue Service requires tax preparers who file over 100 returns to e-file unless the taxpayer wishes to file a paper return. We will have a document for you to sign to waive this e-file requirement.
